Description
Explore a lush, interconnected alien ecosystem that reshapes itself each time you die. Absorb mutations from your fallen kin to reach new areas and adapt to your surroundings. Study the environment to find your own solutions, and unearth the planet's many secrets.
History
MUTAGEN is created by Drew Shapiro, and started in 2024 as the senior capstone project of his Game Design BFA from Pratt Institute. It started as an exploration of evolution and randomness, seeing if players could adapt their play to their environment in the same way real animals do. After he graduated in 2025, the project was accepted into the NYU Game Center Incubator. In 2026, Stuffed Wombat was brought on as a producer as part of the Incubator.
